Pilates Instructor and TRX Instructor
Certificates: Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (formerly known as the PMA Certification); Comprehensive Pilates Certification through Balanced Body University; ACE Certified Personal Trainer; Pre and Post Natal Pilates Certification; TRX Suspension Certification; NASM-CES
Favorite Pilates exercise: My favorite Pilates exercise is bridging, because it is extremely adaptable to every skill level, it strengthens our generally weak posterior side and there are countless variations.
What got you into Pilates?: After my second child and countless running related injuries, a trainer suggested that I try Pilates as a low-impact method of cross training. While I was initially intimidated by the reformer, I felt stronger, more limber and my core strength drastically improved—all significant benefits for running and my lifestyle.
How long have you been an instructor?: I have been an instructor for 4.5 years (since early 2016).
Why do you love teaching at Move Studio?: I love teaching at Move because the clientele is always up for a challenge. As a whole, they are motivated, encouraging and lots of fun, which makes my role that much more rewarding.
Describe your style of teaching: I consider myself a contemporary instructor, so I teach with an athletic spin on traditional Pilates exercises, and I love to challenge the brain/body connection by incorporating single side or multi-directional movements. I believe there is great value in basic, functional movements (like lunges, squats, pushing and pulling), so I also try and incorporate them in to each class. I want my clients to feel confident and strong on and off their reformers.
